The arrangement was sanctioned, albeit somewhat reluctantly, by Beethoven and includes a small amount of expansion and imitative development over the familiar original work.
———
Cymeradwywyd y trefniant, er yn anfodlon braidd, gan Beethoven ac mae'n cynnwys ychydig bach o ehangu a datblygiad dynwaredol dros y gwaith gwreiddiol cyfarwydd.
‘Élégie’, Op.30
Henri Vieuxtemps (1820-1881)
The lament starts with a very simple melody which, passing through moments of grief, memory and happiness, becomes gradually more ornate and complex, leading to a climatic and turbulent close.
———
Mae’r alarnad yma yn dechrau ag alaw syml, yn pasio momentau o alaru, cofio a hapusrwydd, yna yn raddol yn datblygu i alaw fwy addurnedig a chymhleth, yn arwain at uchafbwynt cynhyrfus ar y diwedd.
‘If my complaints could passions move'

Benjamin Britten (1913-1976)

Kurt Weill (1900-1950)
‘Cadenza’
Krzysztof Penderecki (1933-2020)
This piece was written while Poland was still under martial law, and in it a single voice tries to make its voice heard repeatedly, yet the oppression of silence always crushes it.
———
Ysgrifennwyd y darn yma tra bod Gwlad Pwyl o dan gyffraith rhyfel, ac o fewn y darn, mae llais sengl yn ymddangos dro ar ôl tro, yn cael ei drechu gan ormes y tawelwch.
